In this episode, I take you on a journey back two years ago before all of this existed… and then bring you up to where we are today.
It all started as I was browsing organic stats for random websites using SEMRush… I stumbled across Sales Hacker:
A beauty of an organic traffic graph.
This is the original inspiration for SaaS Marketer.
I started writing… and then everything spiralled out of control from there.
We now have:
- 6 clients for our B2B podcast growth service
- 8 students moving through the same process
- A podcasting hosting SaaS about to launch
- Advertising revenue on this very site
Of course, there were a couple of hiccups along the way and I share them with you, along with our current revenue in April and plans for the future in this episode.
There have also been six core insights I have developed during this time that I break down.
The first three of these form our SaaS marketing strategy for bCast:
- Attention first then product
- The three levels of marketer
- The important of user led growth when bootstrapping
- Niching down to a small slice of a large market
- Transitioning from agency to SaaS
- Systems theory
And finally I also give a shout out to the members of the team that have made this all possible:
- Neil - for building bCast
- Clay - for running the operation
- Chaz - for creating the tunes
- Spartak & Olha - for doing the editing
- Gaurav - for building this site
In summary, I hope there is one or two insights that you can take away from this episode that will inform your B2B marketing journey.
If yes, please share them in the comment below!
We must also now thank the first sponsor of this podcast: Document360. Now I’ve seen these guys operate for the past six months as they are one of the aforementioned clients and let me tell you… their organic traffic growth is something behold.
How?
Because they have been building out a high quality knowledge base to enable their customers to self serve, reducing their support costs.
Of course there are many other benefits to their knowledge base product but being perfectly optimised for search is that one that you need to know NOW. Because if you get started building a high quality knowledge base today, in 6 months time, you should be reaping the organic search benefits.
