This is the graph that inspired me to create this very blog you are reading right now.
And so, I just HAD to bring the person responsible for this delightful graph onto the podcast.
His name is Max Altschuler, the founder of Sales Hacker (yes we used their site for design inspiration ;)) and now the VP of Marketing at Outreach. Max started Sales Hacker back in 2014 and has since grown it to 55k organic sessions and sold it to Outreach back in 2018.
We discuss:
- Why Max started Sales Hacker
- How he grew Sales Hacker using a network of contributors
- How he sold the business to Outreach
- How and why Outreach are keeping the Sales Hacker brand independent
I then go on to share more about the strategy we are taking with SaaS Marketer:
- How much traffic, email subscribers and social assets we have, here is a sneaky preview of traffic since we launched back in March:
- How we are growing
- What the current monetisation strategy is
- What the potential end game may be (we got our first acquisition offer this week!)
Anyway, I hope this episode and SaaS content marketing strategy helps share what may be possible when creating an independent media asset for your SaaS or B2B business.
Thanks for listening and please share your honest feedback in the form of a rating and review on your favourite podcast listening app 😉
In this episode you also heard from Saravana Kumar, the CEO of Document360 about how they are dominating the knowledge base space with their SaaS product: Document360 - knowledge base software that scales with your product.
If your SaaS doesn’t have a knowledge base or your product/support/documentation teams are not happy with their solution, then I need you to ping them over a Slack message with this link: https://document360.io
Why should you do that?
Well if they jump in, try a 14 day free trial and then become a Document360 customer, it’s going to make you look good as a SaaS Marketer.
As after a few weeks or months, you should start to notice a lovely uptick in organic traffic that you are quite sure where it’s coming from. You check… and it’s the knowledge base.
Yep - Document360’s knowledge base product is perfectly optimised for search engines.
See for yourself by claiming a 14 day free trial…
